Responsibilities
The successful candidate will serve in a management consulting capacity working closely with senior client managers to deliver innovative solutions to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) in modernizing transit infrastructure. They will join a team that assists with a wide range of Metro’s capital programming efforts, including transit planning, capital project implementation, as well as program and data management activities.
Current engagements include analytical reviews of capital investments, financial management, program/project management, strategy and operations reviews, data management and analysis, and multi-year capital planning and portfolio development to optimize multi-year capital programs. These engagements serve to align funding for key projects and drive strategic investments to enhance regional mobility.
Typical responsibilities include:
Understanding, researching and organizing disparate types of data (economic, demographic, , environmental, real estate market data, etc.) in Microsoft Excel, performing analyses and documenting findings
Building financial models, assessing ROI, and synthesizing recommendations into accurate models, reports, and using data to build compelling, actionable findings in presentations for leadership decision‑making
Advising clients on best practices and crafting compelling, executive-ready materials that communicate insights and recommendations clearly
Framing complex and often ambiguous problems, detailing assumptions, methodologies and information sources and translating data into actionable insights
Preparing written reports, summary analyses, executive presentations and other client deliverables with strong attention to detail and clear storytelling
Leverage approved AI tools to enhance productivity, support research and analysis, and accelerate execution, while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, incorporating professional judgment, and appropriate human oversight
Serving as primary point of contact for clients while managing junior staff, coordinating timelines, tracking milestones, and ensuring cross-functional teams meet deliverable expectations
Qualifications
Minimum bachelor’s degree with background or interest in an analytical field (e.g., economics, consulting, political science, mathematics, statistics, etc.) AND 3-5 years of relevant work experience (consulting or transit-related field preferred but not required)
Demonstrated ability to document, analyze and solve complex problems with innovative solutions
Energy and passion for serving clients and continued learning
Ability to work independently, managing multiple assignments, with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team environment
Ability to manage projects/tasks and meet deadlines
Outstanding work ethic with acute attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal, written, business and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally
Exceptional skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Copilot

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package that is commensurate with qualifications. The minimum and maximum annualized salary for this role is $100,000 to $132,000. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. This role is also eligible to earn discretionary performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es).
